Dreams Of Solitude

“Dreams Of Solitude” is a planned exhibition of large-scale digital illustrations dealing with how we process our memories of the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown and how reflecting on the experience might be beneficial to us all in the aftermath.

With a desire to make work that can create a contemplative and meditative space for an audience the illustrations give thought to the anxieties felt when living in a major city through this event, as well as reflecting on the positive effects that a change of pace provided when we found ourselves with more alone time and a slower and quieter existence.

Taking inspiration from the “Slow Art Movement”, these complex illustrations intend to encourage a deeper level of participation and contemplation from the viewer as they lose themselves in the detail. As this process is known to have beneficial effects on mental health it is of particular interest given the subject matter and the impact globally of the Coronavirus Pandemic on our mental health.

The work made for the exhibition is contributing to the final major project of my Masters Degree studies at Falmouth University.
